Kitchen and Bathroom Redesign

Client Brief: “Our fabulous repeat client is a man of few words, so we were free to let our creative juices flow. His only stipulations were green granite and more storage in the kitchen, and a bath in the ensuite.”

Kitchen: The large open kitchen, living and dining space in this modern water front property gave us ample room to create a kitchen with presence and additional storage.

Having worked on other projects with this family, we knew how they lived, and that large group entertaining always happened outside on the deck. We combined the kitchen island and inside dining table, to keep the open spacious feeling even though we increased the kitchen size. We also created a gas strut window with timber servery  to allow direct access to the front veranda.

By far and away the greatest challenge was the green granite. Granite is very limited in green form and most are too dated looking for a modern tropical home. The St Elle granite was a real work of art, needing a careful balancing act to ensure the other finishes amplified it’s beauty rather than competing with it.

St Elle green granite – CDK stone

Stone fitting – Cairns marble and granite fitters

Timber – Red Cedar

Fitting in a bath into this small ensuite while still feeling spacious was tricky. We also needed to give it the ‘wow’ factor, whilst still keeping it bright and airy and in keeping with the rest of the house. The white floor to ceiling hexagon tiles, creates feature without dominating the space and the copper plumbing fittings really add a touch of class.
