Location: Old barn conversion in the UK
Client Brief: “Bring the kitchen and ensuite up to date whilst being sympathetic to the character and age of the home.”
The decoration inside this country barn hadn’t been changed since it was converted 25 years earlier.
The updated look had to be achieved on a tight budget so the majority of funds were spent on the kitchen. The most important aspect of the new kitchen was that it had to blend seamlessly with the rest of the decor and feel as though it had always been there, the heart and soul of the home. This was achieved with the reclaimed slate flag stone floor which reflected the exterior limestone on the house and provided warmth, laid over under floor heating. The rustic colour palette and the addition of an aga for cooking enhanced the country feel and the addition of a skylight really brightened the space.
The en suite just got a lick of paint and was re-tiled; It’s amazing what a difference even the most basic changes can make. And help was given on future tap wear and vanity selections when finances permitted.
